Answer

Do I need to insulate my chimney liner ?
There are many differing opinions regarding the use of insulation with chimney liner installations. Some insist on it, others insist on not using it. In our experience, the majority of installations do not need additional insulation. The air between the liner the the stack warms and act as insulation itself. We recommend only using additional insulation where the stack is either very high, very large or external in an extremely exposed position.

Micafil
Micafil is often used to back fill the cavity between the chimney liner and the stack. It provides additional insulation and reduces heat loss.

Chimney Liner Insulation Jacket
Liner insulation jackets are used to insulate the chimney liner when used within a large area stack. Manufactured from foil backed Rockwool, 30mm thickness. They are sold in 1 metre lengths and sealed using aluminium tape.
