We sure can.
- After you set your HTML content in the content editor on Step 3 of the Campaign Builder (Step 4 for A/B split or RSS to email campaigns), click "next" to move to the Plain Text creation screen.
- To auto-generate your plain text message click on the "copy text from HTML email" button
- The text version will now show as generated from your HTML content. Please look it over and make sure everything was converted correctly.
How Does it Work?
We’re using Lynx, which is an old-school browser invented in 1992 (back before Al Gore invented pictures on the inter-tubes). Since Lynx is used by
uber-nerds and the visually impaired, we felt it was a good engine for generating plain-text emails.
What Does it Change?
- replaces images with alt-text
- replaces hyperlinks with the URLs
- sets tables to text
- moves the second column to the bottom of the email
Note, this function (like many) will definitely not work if you're using IE6. For your safety and security, it's really really time to upgrade or switch browsers.
