Frequently Asked Question

How do I place my *|UNSUB|* (unsubscribe) Tag in my HTML version?-

Category:  All  ›  Lists-  ›  Unsubscribe-
 Print Article   |    Email Link
Answer

All campaigns must include our proprely coded *|UNSUB|* tag in them so that we can insert a one-click unsubscribe URL into your message. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule, even if you're sending to just friends, even if you are sending an internal message. To remain in good standing with the ISPs we require automatic handling of all your unsubscribes through our link. This is included as a default in all of our Templates. However if you remove the unsubscribe tag from the footer of the Template you'll have to add it back in the source as noted below.

To set the *|UNSUB|* tag as we require, complete the following steps:
  • Make sure you're on the content editor on Step 3 in the Campaign Builder (Step 4 for A/B split or RSS to email campaigns)
  • Click on the footer to bring up the editor
  • ******Click on the SOURCE button (this is one step further than entering regular content)

Or if you have your screen minimized, the source button may appear on a 2nd line of the toolbar:

  • Copy the code provided here

  • Click on SOURCE to move back to the editor
  • Save your work.

When you actually send the campaign, MailChimp will insert your recipient's unsubscribe URL wherever we see the *|UNSUB|* tag.

If you're still getting a notice that you don't have a unsub tag and you need to resolve it, you find a list of possible reasons for that if you - clickity here!
